Frankly, we stopped in Franklin

Taking winding roads through the Smoky Mountains from North Carolina into Tennessee was majestic and ear popping. We stopped in Franklin, Tennessee, in the middle of the state, just west of Nashville.

After a nice lunch at Merridee’s Breadbasket, a local bakery and restaurant, we meandered through the very well-kept historic downtown. A mural project led us on a hunt around town and also to a lovely park. We found four of the eleven murals.

There is plenty more to explore from vineyards and distilleries to historic homes. That will have to be on our next visit. Frankly, Franklin was a nice place to spend the day.
