Better than The Golden Arches…

Arches National Park is filled with the world’s largest collection of natural stone arches (more than 2,000) along with fins, balanced rocks, needles, monoliths and petrified sand dunes. I never knew there were so many fun rock formation terms. It is a scenic red rock spectacle. Our first few hikes were under cloud cover. Although the red rocks were not bright against a blue sky, they were still spectacular. We hoped for the sun to break through for sunset at the window arches but the clouds were too thick. Those thick clouds turned into our first rainy day hike. As we headed out to Landscape Arch in the Devils Garden section of the park, the drizzle turned to a downpour. We finished the hike damp but it did not dampen our spirits.  We opted to go to Moab for lunch and dry off. The sun returned and we enjoyed the thrilling hike to the icon of the park, Delicate ArchThe sculpted rock scenery from Entrada sandstone is surreal, awe inspiring and a geological wonder. The fragile appearance of so many of the arches is not just an illusion, more than forty-three arches are known to have collapsed since 1977. Happily, we got to enjoy all Arches has to offer.

  1. Wow, wow and more wows.
Your photos are breathtaking! Each one more spectacular than the last – isn’t nature increadable? Major debt of gratitude to those who protect it!
Your posts on the five National Parks (congrats on doing them all) have inspired me to get off the couch and go see these views for myself.
    Thank you ❤️
