The photogenic Promenade Anglais in Nice, France provides a lovely walk with palm trees, blue chairs and a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea. The time trial finale of the Tour de France will fill the street with onlookers and riders.
Before securing our viewing spot, we entered the magnificent Le Negresco Hotel. The ground floor is filled with interesting art and lovely seating areas. We took advantage spectacular brunch at the Rotunda inside the hotel.
The final stage of the Tour de France began in Monaco and was a time trial. Each of the 130 riders left in two minute intervals headed to the finish in Nice. Polite crowds lined the Promenade to cheer and clap as the riders and their support teams zoomed by. It is exciting and thrilling to watch a biker go by at 30+miles per hour.
The final and fastest rider crossed the finish close to 7:00pm. The crowds, still polite, dispersed and a fly over happened before the winners ceremony. What a thrill to experience this event up close.
