Bienvenue a France! We are in Nice to soak up the sun, eat French food and watch the final two days of the Tour de France. Check, check and check. For dinner we went to a Michelin listed restaurant Chez Davia. The dishes were prepared and plated with care. We ate lightly fried zucchini flowers, lamb stuffed vegetables, pasta with pesto and a fish stew.

After dinner, we walked through the downtown area filled with bustling restaurants and loads of tourists. We scoped out the Promenade Anglais to find the fan area and the stands for the finish of the Tour de France on Sunday.

Saturday we headed to the old pier where the penultimate stage of the race would begin. We found a fun in the sun location to watch the caravan of sponsors ride by and throw swag to the crowds of fans. We scored some candy and a few bucket hats.

As we headed to lunch, we spent some time taking in the view of the busses and the teams preparing for the day’s stage of the race. We watched several of the riders hop on their bikes and head to the start.

Lunch was at Le Plongeoir, over the ocean with both amazing views and food. Crab salad, grilled octopus, and for dessert; raspberry coconut, chocolate ice cream bomb and lemon meringue tart.

In the oppressive heat of the afternoon, the beaches were full, there were many people in the water and we grabbed seats with a view of the ocean, and watched the exciting end of the last climbing stage in this year’s Tour de France. C’est bon, all is good here, and Nice is Nice.
